Professional Whitening
What does a professional whitening treatment involve? Dental surgeon, gives us a general idea of what to expect. Also, professional whitening treatments are usually followed by at-home treatments:Step 1. A gingival barrier is applied onto the gums to protect is soft pink tissues
Step 2. Whitening gel is then applied onto the tooth surface, one row at a time
Step 3. A standard curing light is then actived on each tooth for 30 seconds each. This light source is the same one dentists use to cure dental bonding (white fillings). The light speeds up the whitening process by quickly breaking down degradation of the peroxide whitener into its reactive components.
Step 4. Next, the gel is suctioned off and steps 2 and 3 are repeated until the desired shade is obtained.
Step 5. Once the last application is done, teeth is rinsed with water and suctioned dry.
Step 6. The gingival barrier is removed.
Step 7. All the steps are repeated on the lower half of the teeth.
